As Musical Director, Benedict has expanded the community involvement with the Sequim City Band inviting other ensembles in the area to perform including Navy Band Northwest, Port Townsend Summer Band, Hometown Band from Kitsap County as well as local high school band programs. One of his main goals with the band has been to broaden the range and repertoire of the ensemble.

They have two children together, Amelia and Carter, and works in the Fire Protection industry on the Peninsula. Locally, Tyler has performed with the Olympic Express and Stardust Big Bands as well as Principal Tuba of the Port Angeles Symphony Orchestra.
