Chuck
Swisher, newly retired director, left, & Sanford Feibus, right, current
director of the the Band
With great regret, the Sequim
City Band announces the retirement of founder and director, Mr. Chuck
Swisher. Chuck started the Sequim City Band when he moved to the Olympic
Peninsula in 1992 after successful careers as first a professional musician
and later an educator with the Pullman Public Schools. Without Chuck’s
dedication to the Band, many musicians living on the Peninsula would not
have a place to expand their interest in music. Both the Sequim City Band
and the audiences will miss Chuck’s presence. He will now use his talents
to arrange music for the Band, and will be seen from time to time playing
the clarinet or saxophone.
The best news for 2010 is we have more new members!
The Sequim City Band welcomes the return of last years musicians and some
new members. The bands' additions this year includes another bassoon,
an oboist, one trumpet, and a baritone horn. The sad news is
that two of our most loyal and steady band members are leaving us. Ben
Bowman (trumpet) is playing in several area bands and can no longer fit the
Sequim City Band into his schedule. Thanks for all your years of
playing. Mick Starkey (trumpet) is contemplating a move and is taking
a hiatus. We will miss them and wish
them well. Keep on playing music wherever you are. Any
instrument is welcome! Come and play with us!
